A total mispress of labels . Thought I was off my rocker when I viewed this record. Amazing “one off” misplacement of record labels.
SIDE 1 Harvest / yellow-green labels NO EMI box
Side 2 Harvest/ yellow-green labels WITH EMI box
“Gram. Co. and Made in Gt. Britain” rim credits.
Lightly played vinyl. Two/three scratches, some hairlines and superficial light marks.Mirror like sheen. Very good visual. Not heavily played and better than many.
Sleeve
Laminated opening gatefold sleeve in excellent condition. Hieronymous Bosch pictorial with excellent inner faces. No damage to report. Corners slightly scuffed but looks really fantastic. E J day printed and one of the best album sleeves to be printed in the late sixties. Lovely feel and a beauty.
Inner sleeve
Amazing inner sleeve. As white as you could get. A real stunning item , very near perfection. No seam splits. No discoloration visible. What a feast for the eye. Harvest inner sleeve is becoming a real collectors item now and I have never seen a better example . Advertises all the other groups that were currently signed up to that label and looks magnificent. NEAR MINT with no seam splits. I doubt if it has been used for vinyl storage.
Audio
Well, after listening very closely to the delivery, I was pleasantly surprised. Mostly excellent for the majority of the presentation. Dips slightly during the final track as there are some very quiet moments in which some static is detected.However, the tones are conveyed extremely well and any disturbance is distant and does little to affect the listeners pleasure. Should not disappoint.
Whatever happened to this vinyl on the press, I do not know ! Any ideas? Perhaps they actually ran out of first press labels and had to use the first of the next set of labels . Could this be THE final first press!??!
Yours to decide. But whatever the reason, it is certainly a faux pas … a blatant mispressing on this monumental rock classic. A very interesting one for the collection, you must agree and you certainly will not come across another, quite like this one !!
