Deftones have always lived in the space between crushing aggression and dreamlike beauty, and Ohms captures both sides of that sound at full power. It reunites the band with producer Terry Date, the architect behind classics such as Around the Fur and White Pony, and the chemistry is immediately apparent.
“Genesis” opens with an ominous electronic pulse before Stephen Carpenter’s nine-string guitar crashes through the atmosphere. “Ceremony,” “The Spell of Mathematics” and “Radiant City” move effortlessly between enormous riffs, haunted melodies and Chino Moreno’s unmistakable whisper-to-roar delivery, while the Grammy-nominated title track closes the album on a towering high.
This indie-exclusive edition is pressed on translucent Gold Vinyl and features a Chris Bellman lacquer cut, identified by his CB signature in the runout.
