Description

A very rare item that doesn't come up very often.

DEL RICHARDSON

PIECES OF A JIGSAW

I've decided to start selling off my vinyl, and as luck would have it, this was the first out of the attic. I have a varied collection, so put me in your favourite sellers list and check back now and then. I will aim to auction at least 5 albums per month, more if I can but it will depend on having time to clean, check and play through every album.

I've classified this as R&B but it is so much more, venturing into Jazz, Soul, Folk, Funk, Fusion and elsewhere. Generally a wonderfully inventive and imaginative work from a musician probably at the peak of his creative efforts, following his career with OSIBISA (Lead guitar and vocals), FREE (Lead Guitar) and some time jammin' with friends in LA and the west coast. Then back to London to make this great album.

MUPS 491 from MCA records in 1972 /1973.

Album cover shows title as "Pieces of A Jigsaw". On the album label it reads "Pieces of The Jigsaw".

Cover has some little signs of wear and discoloration on the top side and spine with just two small splits at the top side of the spine. Some minor signs of ring wear around both sides of the cover.

Original inner sleeve with poly lining. No splits. Small tear at top edges on both sides. Some marks where the original adhesive fixed the poly lining to the paper sleeve. Catalogue number MUPS 491 written in ink on both sides - probably by the original retailer (Chas J Fox music store) in Nottingham where I bought it - this is stamped inside the cover,

Vinyl - visually, has some scuffs and marks but they seem not to affect the quality of play. Retains a very good shine on both sides. Plays through very well with no skips or jumps. Hardly any noise at all. For those who care - I've played this back on a NAD deck with a Goldring Electra cartridge tracking at 1.75 grams. Not as bright as my earlier transcription decks, but it is the only one I retained when confining vinyl to the attic.

Overall I'd grade this as VG+.  I'd say Excellent, but feel that the visuals on the vinyl let it down a little for those seeking top specimens. I don't doubt that a professional clean would improve the overall quality and visuals, but I sold my cleaner machine quite some years ago.

Will also come with cutting of original ad for this album from the New Musical Express (original newsprint - not a copy - see pictures).

Album will be sent in proper mailer with stiffeners etc for full protection.

Any successful bid from outside of the UK, please, you MUST wait for confirmation of postage costs before paying. Will post to UK, Europe and North America.

Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
