You are bidding on a original mono US pressing copy of the Del Shannon - Runaway with Del Shannon LP released by Big Top Records in 1961. This is BIG TOP 12-1303. This record came out of the collection of a central Texas music fan, known to many musicians/fellow music lovers, who tragically lost his life late last year. He frequently attended concerts and shows here in central Texas and elsewhere. He enjoyed meeting musicians and liked to get their autographs, such as this record. It has been signed by Del Shannon! He signed the record on the front of the jacket (see picture). His signature was signed in blue pen. Below his signature he wrote the number 83, probably the year he signed this jacket. Above his signature he wrote "Good luck". We are mainly putting this record up for auction since it has Del's signature, as the record itself is in pretty poor condition. The record is only in G+ condition. The last track on side 1, Runaway, has many scratches and a few skips, and there is abundant surface noise throughout the rest of the record. The record labels are in VG condition. The record jacket is in VG- condition with some shelfwear and edgewear. There is a 3 inch seam split on the top seam of the jacket, and a 2 inch seam split on the bottom seam. The front of the jacket however is still fairly glossy and would look pretty nice framed! We are sorry we have to do this, but unfortunately we have seen a recent spike in the amount of packages being shipped to Italy that have either gone missing entirely or have taken excessively long to reach their destination.
We visually grade all our records for sale and grade both the record and the jacket. We go by general standards for grading, which are:
Mint (M) - an unplayed, new copy of a record. no visual defects!
Near Mint (NM) - a nearly perfect record that has usually only been played 1-3 times, in "like new" condition.
Very Good + (VG+) - record still in excellent condition but has minor signs of wear such as surface scuffs/light scratches that don't affect the play. jacket has minor signs of wear such as light ringwear, edgewear, shelfwear, and/or light creasing.
Very Good (VG) - record has more wear than VG+ and may have some slight surface noise, light pops, some scuffs or scratches. generally still a great playing copy. jacket may have more wear, writing, sticker residue, punch out/cut out holes or corners.
Very Good - (VG-) - record has noticeable groove wear, surface noise, scratches, and/or scuffs but still a decent playing copy. jacket has heavier wear and may have a small split seam.
Good + and Good (G+ and G) - record still plays without skipping but has considerable amounts of groove wear, surface noise, scuffs, and/or scratches. jacket has alot of wear and some defects such as split seams, heavy creasing, writing, marks, sticker residue, etc...
