Description

An original 1st issue of LAYLA on the Polydor label from toward the end of the initial chart run [not earliest 1st press]. Matrix A1/B2/A1/B2 - as per 1st cut. The vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover with no record company logos on the front cover to spoil the artwork! We will house the records in poly-lined inner sleeves for maximum protection during transit.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing heavy or that would enter the audio spectrum. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. A really sweet player and clean enough to do this title maximum justice. We detected a bit of light static during 'I am Yours' - and a couple of ticks toward the end of the track. Nothing remotely invasive - and difficult to avoid entirely on this very fussy track. We also detected a 3-4 ticks caused by a tiny mark in the opening moments of 'Too Late' and a few isolated crackles. Given this is all I could pick out across four sides of vinyl it's a very impressive rendition. "Thorn Tree" - is a very fussy track...and it plays clean as a whistle, here.
Cover (Vg+) Might grade higher but for a sticker removal mark in the top right corner - front and back. Other than that it is in really smart condition. This title often suffers surface wear, but not here there's barely anything noticeable front or back. The interior is immaculate - no issues at all. Edge wear is very limited and the openings still sharp. The spine is in excellent order with all text still legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inners (Ex) Not original - but in excellent order.
