Description

An original 1st press of LAYLA on the UK Polydor label. Matrix A1/B2/A1/B2 - the 1st cut. Please note the labels are flat with no ridge at the edge - these are the early copies. The vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover with no record company logos on the front cover to spoil the artwork! We will house the records in poly-lined inner sleeves for maximum protection during transit.
Vinyl (Ex) In lovely condition and has only seen light use and is tremendously well preserved. Under close inspection I'm struggling to make out a single mark. All sides give off a mirror like effect. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback with just a couple of deviations. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. A really sweet player and clean enough to do this title maximum justice. When on song [which it is for the most part it totally knocks the ball outta the park]. We detected a bit of light static during 'I am Yours'. Which is difficult to avoid entirely on this very fussy track. It plays fine, but not clean like the rest of the tracks. Other than that all I could detect were a couple of isolated crackles in 'Nobody Knows You' & 'Too Late'. I'm just mentioning these to be super critical - these tracks still play back superbly. Given that this is all I could pick out across four sides of vinyl it really is a very impressive rendition. "Thorn Tree" - is a very fussy track...and it plays clean as a whistle, here. A banger for sure! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Cover (Ex-) A very nice flat front cover with barely any creasing. There is, however, one slight blemish on the cheek of the girl. The rear looks good too with just light wear in a couple of spots [fairly typical of this release]. The interior is immaculate - no issues at all. Edge wear is very limited and the openings still sharp. The spine is in excellent order with all text still legible and only light occasional wear. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inners (Ex) Not original - but in excellent order.
