Description
One of the great recordings of the early 70s was Derek and the dominos Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs, with Eric Clapton Bobby Whitlock Carl Radle and Jim Gordon and a later addition the great Duane Allman. When this LP was released It was essentially ignored by the buying public .Now of course it is considered a rock and blues classic By 1970 the 5 best guitar players I saw play in concert were Jimi Hendrix, Peter Green ,Jimmy Page Eric Clapton and Duane Allman and when this LP came out I had the opportunity to 2 of the 5 on one record and a double Lp at that. Most collectors of records know that the original release on the ATCO label was a sonic dud really and underwhelming another one on the Polydor label wasn't a whole lot better so by 2018 long after I stopped collecting half speed remasters I read of MOFI coming out with this redo of this classic . Upon playing it I was surprised how much I liked it , having read of MOFI remastering from a digital source and all. This great recording was finished in about 2 weeks in a haze of cocaine and heroine amongst the members of the band especially Clapton and Allman. Regardless, they pulled it all together and produced a masterpiece. So many highlights like ,Bell Bottom Blues Anyday ,the Billy Myles cover Have You Ever Loved A Woman ,the Jimi Hendrix cover Little Wing ,Layla ,and my favorite Why Does Love Have To Be So Sad .This 2 LP set is on 180 gram vinyl with the Gain 2 system and is limited edition numbered 008644.If you love this album this the one to own.
