◾️DEREK AND THE DOMINOS / ERIC CLAPTON / Derek and the Dominos / Eric Clapton ■ Stormy Monday ◾️ 1LP / Live at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, November 20, 1970 / Excellent Audience Recordings / Trademark of Quality / Very Rare / Santa Monica performance, November 20, 1970 / High-quality audience recording / Rare This is one of the finest live albums by Derek and the Dominos, the legendary band formed by Eric Clapton in 1970. Released in 1973 by Trade Mark of Quality (TMOQ), it is a historically significant album. Recording date: November 20, 1970 Venue: Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, California Context: This is a valuable record of the latter half of the American tour, when the band's energy was at its peak, immediately following the US release (November 9, 1970) of their masterpiece studio album, "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs," a landmark in rock history. This album features a tight 4-piece lineup of guitar, keyboards, bass, and drums, delivering a very tight swamp/blues rock sound. A passionate performance of the classic "Stormy Monday": The biggest highlight is the T-Bone Walker blues cover "Stormy Monday," which is also the album's title track. Clapton's emotional and sharp guitar solo intertwines with Bobby Whitlock's deep vocals and keyboards in this historic performance that can only be heard on this tour. Guest appearance: This performance (evening show, etc.) is also known for featuring Delaney Bramlett, the swamp rock legend who inspired Clapton's Southern American sound, as a guest guitarist.
