I am a 45 year collector of LPs and 45s. All of the LPs I have listed on eBay are from my personal collection.

This LP is the 1970 1st pressing of the double LP by Derek and the Dominos titled Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs. It is Atco SD 2-704. It was first released in November 1970.

I first bought a copy of this LP in 1971 and played it to death. In my opinion, this double LP set contains the greatest blues/rock, guitar rock sessions ever recorded. These sessions are Eric Clapton's finest work. If he had never done anything else in his entire career, these sessions would have warranted him a place in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. They are that good. Of course, he had some help. Duane Allman's guitar work on these sessions is as good as anything he did with The Allman Brothers.... and Bobby Whitlock, Carl Radle, and Jim Gordon were never better. These recording sessions were a classic example of catching lightening in a bottle... all the musicians at their best. Music like this only comes along once in a generation.

When Direct Disk Labs released its 1/2 speed mastered Super Disk LP set of this set in 1981 I replaced my first copy with that Super Disk set. I bought this Atco 1st pressing set I now have for sale about 30 years ago. It was sealed. As an audiophile I couldn't resist doing an A/B comparison with my Super Disk set. I opened this Atco set and played about half the songs on the double LP set to do an A/B comparison with my Super Disk set. The Super Disk set is a bit better, which you would expect from a 1/2 speed mastered Super Disk issued by Direct Disk Labs, but it's not better by much. This Atco 1st pressing sounds really superb.

I only played about half the songs on this double LP set once. The vinyl is flawless... as new. It has been stored in a polyethylene sleeve in my record collection for the past 30 years. The gate-fold jacket is M- only due to corner wear. See the photos. Other than corner wear, the gate-fold jacket is flawless... as new. The inner sleeves are the originals and are as new.
