Description
Joe 'The Boss' Mansano arrived in Brixton, London in 1967 to open Joe's Record Centre, a store that specialised in only the finest blues, rock steady, Jazz, Jamaican imports, Highlife and so on.
Born in Trinidad Joel Mansano arrived in london in 1963 planning to study accounts. He landed a job at a telephone company when he was approached by Len Dyke & Dudley Dryden who asked Joe to work for them in a shop they were opening selling cosmetics and records to the flourishing West Indian population in North London around 1965.
The Dyke and Dryden store was a success and in 1966 was chosen as the venture for Graeme Goodall to launch his Doctor Bird record label.
Keeping an eager eye on the success of Doctor Bird was Island Records Manager Director, David Betteridge. Island wanted some of the action and had launched a similar label they would eventually name Trojan. They offered Joe his own record shop in Brixton where he could sell their Trojan records to South London's West Indian community. It was an offer Joe could not refuse.
Along side selling Trojan releases Joe released tracks on his own label, JOE.
Now very collectable and sought after, also very hard to find. This record is coming straight from the heart of it all, Brixton.

Vinyl plays a strong VG+ both sides. No jumping or skipping. No invasive crackle.
Not sure if its from when the vinyl was pressed but there looks to be some stains/misting on the vinyl. They do NOT effect play at all and you can NOT feel anything on the vinyl but aesthetically they look like misting on the vinyl.
