Description
Greetings everyone! Thanks for stopping by another of my record auctions! Being a Sunday, honestly, I don’t put a ton of effort into these listings like I usually try to, so these will be a bit bare bones compared to usual listings. But I will play grade these, and give the rundown below. I’ve tried to include the pertinent information, and I hope this will help. But for now, let’s see what I have for you this time.
Artist: Dick Holler and his Rockets
Title(s): Living By The Gun/Uh Uh Baby
Label/Label Number/Release Date: Ace 540, 1957
Condition/Grading: Yikes. Storage wear, lack of storage wear, scuffs, needle marks and scratches. Both sides did play through, but there is a bit of a skip on "Living By The Gun". Otherwise, there is crackling while playing. Can not give better than my V+ grading.
Notes: This is kind of funny. A certain site has this listed as being "Funk/Soul" as well as "Rhythm And Blues". What a load of manure. Nah, this is rockabilly, or real close to it. "Living By The Gun" has a rhythm and melody that is almost a dead ringer for Tennessee Ernie Ford's "Sixteen Tons", and danged if he doesn't sound like that Elvis guy on "Uh Uh Baby", something a customer at the store mentioned. It's still not bad, if you can get over all the wear and crackling. The labels have storage wear, abrasions and discoloration. The text is still pretty readable, but having a good light nearby would help.
That’s my grading though, and my grading is considered non-standard. If you are considering placing a bid, please read the paragraph that follows this one, as it will show you the gradings and their respective descriptions. It won’t take long to read, please do.
If you need more pictures or description, I can and will be happy to provide. If you have any comments or questions, please send them to me, and I will reply as soon as possible.
