Dinah Lee ORIG OZ Promo 45 Night time is the right time VG+ ’66 HMV Soul Mod
Original OZ Promo 45" released in 1966 on HMV Records. Cat: EA-4763. There is a Promo sticker on B-side of label. "Dynamic" Dinah Lee was without doubt the most successful and prominent Australasian female pop star of the Sixties. It's probably a symptom of the long-standing male domnination of popular music that her status is not as high as it should be, and while she has always been a famous figure in her home country of New Zealand, her many great achievements have never been fully acknowledged here in her adopted home. She drew much of her early musical inspiration from black female singers of the early 60s, like England's Little Millie Small and America's Dee Dee Sharp. These singers were pioneering a tough, rootsy sound for female singers, based in blues and R&B rather than Tin Pan Alley or Broadway traditions. Millie Small is doubly significant -- her 1963 smash "My Boy Lollipop" was Island Records' first hit, and she was the first major artist to have a hit with "bluebeat", the exciting new genre that had recently emerged from Jamaica and which was the direct ancestor of ska and reggae. Dinah deserves full credit for being the only local artist to pick up on the bluebeat craze and record in that idiom at the time.Tracks: Night time is the right time/ Not in this whole world.
There is a tiny surface tear on B-side of label. Record has some light scuff marks and very light scratches that cause some light crackles and is in VG+ condition. Gloss cover with back flaps has very light ring wear and is in Excellent condition.

Wrapping method: All records are sent in stiff cardboard mailers then wrapped in brown paper and sealed around edges with brown packaging tape. Records are taken out of sleeve to avoid seam splits and ring wear.

Post method for overseas: All parcels are sent via Australia Post and are sent on a standard airmail service. There are no tracking numbers on these items. If you require a tracking number the item will have to be sent as an insured item which incurs a further postage fee.
