Description
Do Re Mi ORIG OZ LP Happiest place in town NM ’88 Virgin V2467 Deborah Conway
Original OZ LP released in 1988 on Virgin Records. Cat: V2467. Comes with printed lyric inner bag which is in Near Mint condition.Built around the powerhouse pipes of vocalist Deborah Conway (who would further indulge her fondness for the dramatic on Pete Townshend's 1989 rock opera The Iron Man), nearly everything about The Happiest Place in Town sounds equally large. The bass-drums-guitar trio behind Conway matches her intensity with blasts of funky rock that manage to be both muscular and consistently tuneful, augmented nicely with occasional brass. And Conway tackles big issues, offering perceptive takes on matters of the heart ("Adultery") and bashing the usual musicianly targets (suburban life, racism) to far less effect.
Tracks : Haunt you/ King of Moonba/ Adultery/ Valentine’s day/ Take me anywhere/ Heads will roll/ Disneyland/ Wild and blue/ Desert song/ Friends like you/ That hanging business/ The happiest place in town.
There are no signs of spindle marks on labels. Record is in Near Mint condition. Cover has a few tiny surface tears along spine and is in Excellent condition.
