Description

This is a 1954 vinyl release of the jazz album Don Byas And His Rhythm on the Felsted label. Features tenor saxophonist Don Byas with pianist Art Simmons, bassist Joe Benjamin and drummer Bill Clark. Tracks includes "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes," "I Cover The Waterfront," and "Riviera Blues".  A classic bebop and swing session originally recorded for the French Vogue label. Unfortunately the condition can only be described as fair as there are signs of surface scratches and there is surface noise. Track 3 sticks a little.  Hopefully a clean would help. The sleeve condition is also worn. Nevertheless this record is quite rare.
Recorded in Paris between June 1950 and March 1952 these sessions reveal Don at his greatest and fully reveal him as a tenor-saxophonist of outstanding ability.
