Description

This is PG-286 Don Pullen-Milford Graves In Concert At Yale University. This is the white label, original self-produced concert recording from 1966, with only 100 copies pressed! It features a sustained free-jazz, duo improvisation which lasts the length of two sides. It was available by mail-order only and features a hand painted cover by either Mr.Graves or Mr.Pullen. Most of you looking at this listing know already the rarity of it.  The record  looks near mint showing no signs of being played, however, there is a pressing defect on side B (see last photo) which causes 3 clicks as the needle runs over it, then 7 light clicks as the mark recedes. The private pressing reveals a small amount of non-sustained crackle in some of the quiet passages, but this is endemic to the pressing and not a function of any damage, marks or scratches as there are none. The labels are perfect. The textured, hand painted cover (by Pullen or Graves) has a bump on the top left and bottom right, but is otherwise exceptional and intact, with perfect seams, no writing and a clean clear front.  This is a very strong copy of this extremely rare collector's piece. I have entered a reserve price.  The record was cleaned on a VPI 17 and played on a Linn Sondek LP12. This is part of a large Jazz record collection I will be offering in the next few months. International customers, please wait for an invoice, or contact me about combined shipping rates as Ebay does not provide accurate numbers. Thanks for looking.
