Description

The evolution of Donald Byrd is on display in these Blue Note reissues. His ability to adapt to different styles of jazz is seamless. This LP has an electric vibe to it that carries throughout the record, with splashes of color from the artists. Bobby Hutcherson on vibes is a welcome sound on any jazz session (especially given the scarcity of getting his reissues). Byrd is just one example of the jazz progressions you will find among the recent Blue Note reissues. From bop to funk, it’s all pure listening pleasure. Each listen reveals new layers of sound, mesmerizing!

  1. "The Emperor" - 15:14
  2. "Jamie" - 3:38
  3. "The Little Rasti" - 17:41
Recorded at A&M Recording Studios
Recorded: August 25th & 26th, 1971
