Description

Donald Byrd/Ernie Wilkins        Top Brass     Savoy 12044   mono   Red label deep groove

Donald Byrd, Joe Wilder, Ernie Royal, Idrees Sulieman, Ray Copeland (t), Hank Jones (p), Wendell Marshall (b), Kenny Clarke (d)    Recorded  1955

Red label with deep groove both sides.  "RVG" and "X20" in the runouts both sides.  "Savoy Record Co., Inc., Newark, N.J." address on back cover. No printing on spine.

Record looks VG and plays a bit better at VG to VG+.  Both sides have a fair number of surface scratches that are not deep or wide but they do cause ticking and light surface noise. Not a clean copy, but record plays without distortion and music is enjoyable.

    The cover is G.

The front cover has heavy wear and pieces of slick torn away. As seem common with Savoys, most of the laminate is missing. The back cover has heavy wear with staining and stamps. Top seam is taped and split all the way across.  Spine is taped and split app 8 inches. Spots of heavy wear and denting at the corners.

I WILL BE RUNNING WEEKLY AUCTIONS OF 50s and 60s JAZZ LPS INC BLUE NOTE  1500s PRESTIGE NYCs TRANSITIONS ETC. MANY WEEKS AND SOME HIGH END ITEMS TO COME.

My highest grade is M- and I rarely grade 50s or 60s records M-. Records are graded visually using the Goldmine system. M-, VG++, VG+, VG, VG- etc. I play grade any potential problem areas.  I attempt to grade conservatively, listing all significant flaws. You will be satisfied.  No hassles.
