Grading Scale for records 45’s and LP’s
Mint: A perfect record, label and wax , I rarely ever give a record this grade
Near Mint (NM)/ Same as Mint Minus (M-): Vinyl: An almost perfect record. Playing surface may have 1 or 2 minor scuffs or hairline scratches that may occur from pulling it in and out of the sleeve , vinyl will still contain all of its luster and the Label will be clean of writing stickers etc. unless otherwise stated. Record will play with no background noise. // L.P. Covers will only have very minor wear. Such as maybe a small dog ear on a corner. Anything else such as small writing on cover will be listed as such in grading
Very Good ++ (VG++): Vinyl will have a few small scuffs or hairline scratches. You will not hear the scuffs or scratches when playing the record there will be very little if any background noise. // L.P. Cover will have some impressions, and maybe some minor ring wear, any writing on it will be described. Some minor wear on corners may also be evident, but very minor.
Very Good Plus (VG+): Vinyl will show wear, surface scuffs, and minor scratches, but no deep scratches. Vinyl will still have luster. You may hear minor pops and tics while playing record but not distracting. // L.P. Covers may have small writing on it, or a small sticker. But no big marks. Artwork will be clear, but will show age, maybe some minor yellowing. Seams may have wear, any minor seam split(s) less than 1” - 2” will be noted as such.
Very Good (VG): Vinyl will be well played, and has lost some gloss. Numerous surface scuffs and scratches will be heard, but will not over power the music. // L.P. Covers will be worn and maybe some larger seam splits. Ring wear will be evident there may be somelarger writing on cover, sticker(s) and yellowing.
Note: LP’s graded less than VG are not usually listed
Very Good – (VG-) Vinyl has lost most luster, lots of light to medium scuffs and scratches, but still a playable record with background noise or hiss, some whitening of grooves may be visable.
Note: 45’s graded less than VG- are usually not listed.
Note: All record labels will be shown by a scan on at least 1 side, , any writing, stickers or tears etc. will be listed in the description. Do not be afraid to ask any questions you may have.
