Description

  • Excellent copy of the very hard to find Regent 1957 deep groove green label monaural original 1st LP from Dorothy Ashby “The Jazz Harpist” (Regent MG-6039).
  • This great Rudy Van Gelder (RVG in trailoff) engineered album features Dorothy Ashby (harp), Frank Wess (flute), Ed Thigpen (drums) and Wendell Marshall or Eddie Jones (bass).
  • The tracklist (four of them composed by Dorothy Ashby) is: Thou Swell/Stella By Starlight/Dancing On The Ceiling/Aeolian Groove/Quietude/Spicy/Lamentation.
  • The glossy LP looks and plays great with just a couple of superficial marks and crisp, clear playback and some light occasional surface noise. The front and back cover slicks are in excellent condition with clear graphics and liner notes and no writing, cutouts or tears. There is a 3 ½ inch split on the bottom seam and some light wear overall.
