Dorothy Ashby Plays for Beautiful People (Prestige Records PRLP 7639) Beautiful late 50's quartet session from the magical Dorothy Ashby on hap accompanied by Frank Wess on flute. There are few records that come close to the breezy coolness of this unexpected classic. This title was first released in 1959 as "In a Minor Groove" with a different cover. This is the 1969 reissue, supposedly to be in "electronic stereo", but in fact is the original Van Gelder mono as can be seen by the stamp in the runout groove. "Electronic stereo" was often a false advertised claim to take advantage of the popularity of the new-ish stereo technology of the era. Fortunately, this is not that, because those records usually sound pretty bad. This one- fantastic, and with crystal clear fidelity Record grade: VG+ closer to EX Great clean copy!
Cover notes: Standard album jacket, thick and sturdy board, but with some minor paper loss on front, stain and writing on back and seam wear all around, particularly on spine which has chipping and flaking.

EX (Excellent): This record will have very few visual imperfections that will have little to no affect on sound. VG+ (Very Good plus): This record will have few visual imperfections with minor affect on sound. VG (Very Good): The record will have visual imperfections resulting in light surface noise and/or background noise. VG- (Very Good minus): The record will have will have numerous visual imperfections resulting in surface noise and/or background noise. G (Good): The record will have heavy wear, with very apparent surface and background noise. A plus or minus may be given, if notable.

Shipping: All records will be shipped in a sturdy, reinforced cardboard box mailer, with record and cover protected in plastic sleeve. Standard shipping will be via USPS media mail, at cost of $4.00. Priority mail also available, at cost of $10.00. Save on combined shipping when additional records are purchased. For additional records, $1.00 will be added to initial shipping cost.
