Dorothy Ashby
The Rubaiyat Of Dorothy Ashby
Original 33&1/3rd pressing on Cadet Records from 1969, catalog #LPS-841.
NOT A RE-ISSUE!
The vinyl is near mint, no marks, no surface noise. The cardboard jacket has light ringwear and light edgewear, slightly heavier along the bottom, no splits.
tracks:
Wax and vane, drink, dust, the moving finger, for some we loved, joyful grass and grape, heaven and hell, myself when young, shadow shapes, wine the infidel
You'll probably know Dorothy by her fantastic "Afro Harping" LP reissued a couple of years ago - well this is the follow-up and it's a touch less Afro, a touch more cosmic soul (mmmm...) with heavy Eastern influences. Beat-diggers will especially love the extra-funky acidic-afro styles of "The Moving Finger", but the whole thing's just lush grade-A psychedelic soul done in a way that only Cadet can pull off... Excellent.
