I wish my Softee Man played the blues! Doug made one record for the Gotham label in 1953 and a handful of unissued sides a few months before these recordings in 1961. He grew up in the south and came to Philadelphia early in his life. He was rediscovered playing his National steel guitar for the kids on his route. After drawing a crowd, he would then sell as much ice cream as he could. He was a very powerful singer suggesting his southern roots. A great record. Vinyl is strong VG+ with no serious issues whatsoever. Cover is in a little rough shape.Spine has been taped and is split half way down, bottom right seam split 2". Tear on top of cover and wear on both seams on the Prestige Bluesville label # 1065 with original silver print label.
