Description
The original WPA Records pressing of the the harmony soaked pre-classic country album. Texas born Doye O'Dell combines the swagger of classic Gene Autry records with the smooth vocals and jaunty Western swing rhythms of The Sons of the Pioneers.
Like so many of these primo 50s country acts, there's an easy eclecticism and professional polish that makes for great background music. Pre outlaw and Hank Williams agnostic, jazzy rhythms and theatrical vocals swing in place of authenticity. "I Left My Gal in the Mountains" contains some guitars licks hot enough to shame the Chihuahua Desert.
The record itself is NM with no visible scratches or imperfections and minimal to no surface noise. The sleeve is in good shape with but is split down the left-hand side, that said, you'd never notice that unless you removed it from its plastic sleeve (included, obviously!). All in all, this is in great shape for a record of this vintage (1957).
