Description
The third of several super-rare Duane Eddy singles to be listed daily
This is a release that appears every few years on eBay. "The Girl on Death Row" was written by long-time collaborator Lee Hazlewood and it is Hazlewood himself you hear on the record. Duane Eddy and his orchestra provided the backing, his guitar playing prominent.
Strangely, I have seen several versions of this record on varying labels. Some credit Duane Eddy (no mention of Hazlewood), others credit solely Lee Hazlewood, Eddy not even rating a mention. Most however, credit Duane Eddy and Lee Hazlewood jointly, as does this release. 'Jamie' was the original recording label as Eddy was still contracted to them in 1960. UK buyers would have seen this on a "London" label.
Interesting departure from his 'twangy' recordings.
