Description

I bought this well over thirty years ago. this is the first pressing of "Bionic Dub" with a proper sleeve (a few blanks were issued on Winro and Forward), and was pressed in about 1975, making it one of the earliest of the Studio One Dub sets. It's in its original waxed silkscreen sleeve (in excellent condition) and the LP itself (CN -3049 A/B) has a blank b/w Studio 1 label. The disc has hardly been played and is in superb condition, with few of the problems normally associated with Coxsone dub albums on JA pressings. The music? It's a pretty eclectic set that features a few dubs of sixties tunes, and a few that were pretty well up to the minute. Tracks are- Side One: 1. Bionic (Vin Gordon - "Red Blood") 2. Theme From Steve (The Cables - "Baby Why") 3. Austin Chuck (The Cables - "What Kind of World") 4. Six Million (Winston Edwards -"Fools Fall in Love" with a nice sax overdub) 5. Squash (Sugar Minott - "Love Gonna Pack Up"). This is "Six Million" Side Two: 1. Meet 7 Million (Freddie McGregor - "I'm a Revolutionist", without the synth overdubs) 2. Oscar (a recut of "Darker Shade of Black") 3. Exodus (recut of Tommy McCook's "Exodus") 4. Robot Fixt (the obligatory Jackie Mittoo funk workout) 5. Barny Dub (Alton Ellis - "Hurting Me"). This is "Oscar" - This is a must-have for the serious Studio One collector, so the price is set to discourage dabblers and timewasters
