ELLINGTON/MINGUS/ROACH – MONEY JUNGLE
(USA UNITED ARTISTS JAZZ UAJS15017 – 1962 ORIGINAL STEREO PRESSING)
Classic 1962 release from Duke Ellington and featuring Charles Mingus and Max Roach. This session finds the big band veteran Ellington working simpatico with the two younger, innovative musicians, the results showing (and thus proving) that Ellington was still an influential force in the new world of contemporary jazz. A great album that has endured!
Rudy Van Gelder mastered, featuring the 'Ear' logo in run out groove both sides.
This is an original USA United Artists Stereo LP release. The label is the traditional United Artists one of the 1960’s. The majority of copies of that were released at the time featured a pale, light Jazz Trumpeter label. Not sure if the release with the standard UA label was the first pressing followed by the Jazz Trumpeter label. (I couldn’t find any info on this either!)

Cover = VG (VG+) (Heavy textured cover displaying minor edge wear and slight seam splits. Some discolouration on back sleeve, and Sellotape residue noticeable from spine removal, making this VG)
Record = EX (Lovely Sheen. Not much wrong here!)
UA insert from the period features an original Downbeat review critiquing the album!
Black 60’s United Artists labels in excellent condition.
