Vinyl:

Visually: light scuffs, scratches, some lightly feelable scratches across the first third of Side Two. Labels have some spindle marks.

Side A:

'Morpheus' plays with light wear in places, but play is generally solid with the music dominating proceedings except in the quieter sections, where soft crackle and the odd 'click' can sometimes be heard. I would grade 'Morpheus' as mostly VG.

On '12 Tone Nostalgia'  what background surface noise there is is slightly more noticeable. However, it is not overly distracting once one's ears adjust. A 'pop' or two that I noticed. I would grade '12 Tone Nostalgia' between VG- and VG.

Side B:

Plays with a little wear from time to time, but even in those sections where soft crackle is audible, the music is to the forefront. This side does not grade an outright VG- because, like the first side, it plays well and is still an enjoyable listen. Roughly the first third of 'Song For Witches' grades as VG- while play is generally closer to VG on the last third of this song. Overall, Side Two play grades between VG- and VG.

N.B. the record plays right through without 'skips' or 'jumps' on both sides and remains a very enjoyable listen despite being USED and playing with a little wear in places. There is no distortion and the music is clear.

Cover:

grades as Poor:

The gatefold cover has numerous flaws including ring wear (to back of cover), dirt, marks, writing (on top of front of cover). There is wear to the opening: some 'feathering' and a tear. The cover has pronounced edge wear and corner wear. There is wear to the spine. As a result, some of the writing on the spine is no longer visible. Apart from some very tiny tears in one place, the inside of the cover is acceptable. Cover is still funtional.

A note on the grading:

Grading is not an exact science. We try to grade conservatively. We don't use "EX" or "VG++" or "EX-".

Vinyl:

Sealed records will be listed as "Sealed" and are presumed to be in Mint condition.

If the record appears to be in flawless condition without any defects it will be graded as "Near Mint".

 Any scuffs, scratches or marks and the record will be graded as "VG+". Typically this will mean a lightly played record with minimal and/ or occasional surface noise only.

A better-than-average used record. A relatively quiet copy.

The grading "VG" will be applied to a record which has been played a number of times and plays with some usually intermittent surface noise in the form of low level or background crackle, 'clicks', 'pops' etc. However, although surface noise is present and is part of the listening experience, it should not overwhelm the music or be especially intrusive,

An average used record. Some moderate surface noise.

A record graded as "VG-" will play with surface noise which is often distracting or intrusive and 'competing' with the music. It should still however play through without 'skips' or 'jumps' and should still be listenable.

A below-average used record. Not trashed - playable, but somewhat noisy.

A record graded as “G” will either have ‘skips’ or jumps, sound terribly noisy incl. possible distortion in the vocals and/ or be unplayable. An abused record. Only value is in its rarity or as a ‘placeholder’ copy.

With many records play is variable. This will be reflected in the grading as, for example:

VG-/VG or VG/VG+ or VG-/VG/VG+

Cover:

Like new – pristine –9 or 10 out of 10

Very Good – minor defects only, such as a tiny mark or crease, or a hint of corner wear – will otherwise be almost flawless –7 or 8 out of 10

Good – light wear is evident, but cover still intact, with (for example) legible spine, some shine to laminate, no serious ring wear etc., well preserved  –5 or 6 out of 10

Acceptable/ Fair – far more noticeable wear, incl. ring wear, corner wear, seam splits etc. although cover is still intact, functional –4 out of 10

Poor – shocking condition incl. pronounced ring wear, seam splits, writing, dirt etc. 

–3 out of 10 or less
