Dusty SPRINGFIELD. Superb Hand SIGNED Sleeve for 7" Single 'Reputation.'
On offer is a 7" single (R6253) hand SIGNED on the sleeve 'To Mike With Love Dusty.' (Mike was a BBC record show producer.) 'Reputation' was on side one with 'Rub U Dub' on side two. Assumed to be a first pressing, record and sleeve in excellent condition. Also included is a press release for the single and for the forthcoming album (see below.)
'Reputation' (the single) was released in May 1990. The song was written by Brian Spence and produced by Andy Richards. 'Rub U Dub' on side two was also by Spence and Richards. The single was not a critical or popular success. However, it was the title song for Dusty's 12th. studio album, released by Parlophone in June 1990. 'Reputation' was not only Dusty's first studio album in eight years but the first album to be released in her native country since 1979. After a string of commercially unsuccessful albums in the late 1970s and early 1980s 'Reputation' finally managed to resurrect Springfield's career and belatedly resulted in her recognition by both critics and the general public as Britain's foremost 'blue-eyed soul' singer. Mainly produced by Pet Shop Boys and recorded in the UK over a period of some eighteen months, 'Reputation' was her highest charting and best-selling album in Britain since 1970, reaching No. 18 and selling 60,000 copies within 2 weeks of release.
