Description

Welcome to my third round of auctions of REPRODUCTIONS of rare, early and fun discs.  Over the next several weeks I will be listing HUNDREDS of titles from 1888 - 1929.  Original discs are copied by using them as a "master matrix", which reproduces scuffs and all.  The new copies are pressed in a material which plays just like vintage shellac; they can be played on vintage equipment with steel needles if desired.  Demonstration videos are available on my Youtube channel.  

This auction is for George W. Johnson's famous "Laughing Song".  This take (X) was recorded in Philadelphia in the Fall of 1896.  Johnson would record several takes with Berliner (and for Edison and Columbia) and these discs are now highly collectible.  This copy was made from one of the cleanest surviving originals, the original has a tight crack which is visible in this reproduction.  A white crayon was used to make the "label" easier to read, it can be washed off, if desired. This is an excellent disc to demonstrate your early gramophones.  

Shipping via media mail with tracking is $5 within the continental USA.  International shipping is at cost, while USPS is the least expensive method it does not include tracking nor insurance.  If an international buyer chooses USPS shipping then they assume all responsibility.
