E. PARKER MCDOUGAL – Initial Visit (1975) Grits-2001 – EX/M- (cover/vinyl) AUTOGRAPHED

Really rare private release and debut of “Chicago Hard-Core Jazz” by this saxophonist. He’s joined by Jay Peters also on sax, Willie Pickens on piano, Dan Shapera on bass and Steve McCall on drums. There are a few personnel changes on one cut. The tracks are “For Godchild,” “Nancy,” “Bitter Lemon,” “Foxxy Minor,” “The Skeleton,” “Valse Grits,” “Ode,” “ Mackin” and “The Core.” This is Chicago’s version of black power spiritual and modal jazz. A great album.

This is a beautiful copy. The cover is bright and tight with only the slightest hint of discoloration on the lower left back cover. The vinyl is beautiful and looks unplayed. I grade this conservatively: EX/M- (cover/vinyl).
