EAGLES Their Greatest Hits 1976 Asylum 1st Press SRC 7E-1052 Embossed EX/VG+

One of the best-selling albums in US history, compiling the Eagles' run of hits from their first four albums — Take It Easy, Witchy Woman, Lyin' Eyes, Desperado, One Of These Nights, Tequila Sunrise, Take It To The Limit, Peaceful Easy Feeling, and Best Of My Love. Released February 17, 1976, it hit #1 on the Billboard 200 and was RIAA Platinum-certified within a week of release — a pace of demand that forced Asylum to farm production out across multiple contract pressing plants simultaneously just to keep copies in stores.

This is an Original US First Pressing on Asylum Records, 7E-1052. Pressed by Specialty Records Corporation (SRC), one of several plants Asylum contracted from release week to meet that immediate demand. The lacquer carries an 8RE designation on both sides, reflecting how quickly this pressing run burned through lacquer generations to keep pace — a first pressing with a recut lacquer cut during that same initial run, not a later repress. No UPC barcode on the jacket, consistent with manufacture before barcodes became standard on LP covers.

Mastered by Alex Sadkin (ABS in the runout). Sadkin trained as a mastering engineer before becoming head engineer at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, where he later worked with Grace Jones, Duran Duran, Talking Heads, and Bob Marley & The Wailers.

Also present in the runout on both sides — hand-etched dedications from the cutting session to the album's producers: "Happy New Year, Glyn" (Side One, to Glyn Johns) and "With Love From Bill" (Side Two, to Bill Szymczyk).

Pale blue-gray label with the Eagles logo and orange flame-style lettering, correct for this era of Asylum pressing. Both labels carry a period "AS IS" cutout stamp. Front cover has the embossed eagle skull artwork.
