Description
East Bionic Symphonia LP issued by ALM Records (AL-3001) in Japan, 1976. ****** Rec:m- / Cov:ex ****** Offered here is a monster of experimental music in its original edition, the very highly desirable East Bionic Symphonia by master Takehisa Kosugi. Record and sleeve in top conditions! Low starting and no reserve! Not really a proper band, but a temporary musical presentation staged for the graduation of Kazuo Imai and fellow students from the art school workshops of Takehisa Kosugi . These concerts of collective free-improvisation were called East Bionic Symphonia. They made a live recording, featuring 10 members playing all manner of instruments and objects over 2 lengthy jams. This sounds very much like a largely mellow Taj Mahal Travellers . After this, the group seems to have dissolved, with Imai playing with the Kosugi-less Taj Mahal Travellers and later with a variety of other avant-garde musicians. Another East Bionic Symphonia member, Chie Mukai, went on to form her own folk-psych group Che-Shizu, while Tada Masami produced several sound art records. We get two tracks here, recorded on July 13th 1976, both seemingly scraping stardust from the upper regions of the stratosphere. The first track stays squarely in the realm of the mystical, with echoed koto and throaty chants hovering above occasionally minimal, but usually absent percussion. The second track is more hand percussion present. It's still pretty far from the mainstream as their more together moments still sounds like something Sun Ra would cook up in his odder moments. Tape editor: Takehisa Kosugi, Gran Mogol of experimental practices! ****** Very very minimal ring wear on back cover (see photo). ****** Please wait to receive my invoice before sending the payment after the auction ends.
