Description

Up for auction is a beautiful, clean copy of the Eddie Costa Quintet album "5" released on Mode Records (MOD LP #118) in 1957.  This is an original, deep groove, mono pressing, not a cheap reissue.  Great line up includes Art Farmer, Phil Woods, Teddy Kotick, and Paul Motian.
The cover looks really nice, retaining its high gloss finish on the front.  No tears, seam splits, or significant ring wear.  Lower left and upper right corners are bumped, the only real detractions.  It has the first pressing blue ink back cover, very clean, bone white, no writing, with only a small amount of rubbing at the top middle.  Overall, a beautiful cover, very well preserved.  I grade it Near Mint Minus (NM-).
The vinyl is equally nice, retaining its original high gloss sheen.  No obvious scratches or scuffs.  No marks around the spindle holes, bright labels.  Perhaps the slightest sign of rubbing from having been taken out of the paper inner sleeve.  It looks as if it were played maybe only once previously.  Play tested, and it sounds very clean, just as it looks.  I would grade the vinyl Near Mint (NM).
An increasingly hard-to-find album, especially in this clean condition.  100% guaranteed.
