 Here's a great example of a blues singer with a name like a society matron : Edna Winston. Sounds pretty upper crust, right? One listen will dissipate that notion. She's got a gritty voice along the lines of Lil' Johnson, but with a bit more class, and she's heard here on a pair of Victor Electric recordings for your Orthophonic system.

This pair of songs is from Edna Winston's second recording session with Victor. The date was February 16, 1927 and she's backed here by Tom Morris, Charlie Irvis, Bob Fuller, Mike Jackson and Buddy Christian. The cut four songs that day, and this record is half of that session. Tracks here are "Way After One And My Daddy Ain’t Come Home Yet” and “Rent Man Blues.”
