Gramophone G-1001 RARE '74 private avant-garde jazz LP. From Fat City review:
One of the first and most intriguing finds from my last thrift haul was this, a blind buy which looked too interesting to leave behind...turns out to be a rare local, private press free jazz album recorded in Vancouver, Canada. Responsible for at least one other LP the next year, Secret Sauce (the “sauce” being reputedly of the lysergic persuasion, if YouTube comments are to be believed) which goes for similarly respectable prices on Discogs, not much is known about the mysterious Eric Ghost other than he seems to have passed away quite young. What is clear is that this is a jazz concept album of sorts following the titular Mr. S (no idea if this is based on a factual case or not) on a nightmarish journey through the justice system. Reminiscent of the plot of the Midnight Express film (not released until a few years later), Ghost plays all instruments, with the two sides separated into Darkening Of The Light and Deliverance - all tracks (and there are no separated bands) flow suite-like from one movement to the next, with titles like “Bust”, “Federal Pen”, and “First Parole” outlining the trials of our central character as he travels the road to redemption. Eastern melodies intermingle with screeching strings, keys, percussion (with some furious drum solos) and Ghost’s flute lead. The mood is tense, off kilter, even desperate but offset with the occasional notes of hope; the story of one man’s harrowing trip through a labyrinthine corrections system...  
Jacket Grade VG Light wear and ring to gatefold cover art. Corner creases. No splits. Note* Possibly due to budget constraints, the inner gatefold had the paper sleeve glued down to the right inside cover. The liner notes by Bill Phillips (see photo) are on the left inside cover. This is how the LP came in it's original form.   
Record Grade: VG+ Little to no visible play wear. A few faint sleeve and surface marks. NICE.
