Egg : Egg 2W / 2W Early Stereo Press Deram Nova
This very early pressing on the Deram Nova label plays to a superb standard with barely any background. The only intrusion really are a small number of minor static ticks on 'While Growing My Hair' on S1 but they are quiet. There are no clicks, pops or underlying static and the clarity and depth of the audio is very impressive throughout. The opus that is 'Symphony No.2' on S2 is phenomenal. The entire 20+ minutes plays with a sonic quality that cannot be faulted, it is STUNNING! 'As new' basically.
The laminated cover (mono / stereo indicator hole on the back) is in excellent condition with only minimal wear and the original blue stereo inner is in excellent shape also.
It's not a first pressing because 'Movement 3' is omitted from both the label and the cover but I also do not think it's a later repressing from '74 or later. My reasoning is that the inner sleeve is dated 7-71 and having bought a number of records from the previous owner I know he was very 'particular' about his collection and said he never mixed up inner sleeves! I cannot imagine they would use a 7-71 inner for a '74 issue or later! As you can see the Deram part of the label still has a silver background which was on the first / early pressings.

Visual description
The vinyl is in fantastic condition and still has a superb glossy sheen with no scratches. There is just one very small faint blemish on S2 but it has zero affect on the superb audio and looking under a bright light I can only locate a small number of ultra faint hairlines - they are not easy to find! There are some faint 'lines' on the run out grooves but you can still easily read the matrix info and the JT tax code on both. The Deram Nova labels are perfect with no marking and no spindle wear.
Play grading
The 9 second 'Bulb' plays perfectly and the intro on 'While Growing My Hair' has just one static tick on the intro. The opening vocal section plays very clearly with only a handful of light static ticks. The second vocal is faultless and the instrumental section is superb with no intrusion whatsoever. The final vocal is just as impressive and the closing instrumental has no background either. I would say the opening section is Ex+ and the remainder Mint- I think that is fair reflection of the audio. 'Bulb' is Mint :-)
'I Will Be Absorbed' plays with superb audio from the very first note. The intro has no background and Campbell's first vocal is just as clean and precise. It continues to play with stunning clarity and depth through every vocal and instrumental section and I am confident in grading it as Mint such is the quality. Even the quieter sections play with sublime clarity.
'Fugue In D Minor' is so close to perfect with only 3/4 quiet statics which clearly are not intrusive. I will say Near Mint but that could be considered a little harsh! Great work from Stewart of course.
The intro on 'They Laughed When I Sat Down At The Piano' plays with wonderful clarity and the rest of the instrumental is more or less on the same level with only a couple of minor statics. Mint-
The powerful intro on 'The Song Of McGillicudie...' has no intrusion and the opening vocal is equal to that. From then on it plays with superb sound quality. There is no interference and the instrumental section, very much led by Campbell's strong bass, is stunning. The quiet mid section is 'as new' and as it builds the playback is so strong and clear. The final vocal section again plays with real quality as does the closing section. It's a powerful track and what is so impressive is the lack of distortion, easily a Mint- version.
'Boilk' ends S1 with impeccable clarity from start to finish. A perfect Mint finish in fact.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I have played 'Symphony No. 2' in full and I am delighted to say it plays with phenomenal quality through every section. 'Movement 1' has a clarity that can only be described 'as new' because there is literally no background not even a dust tick.
'Movement 2' is on the same level - the opening section is relatively quiet and yet all I noticed was one barely audible static. It continues to play with exceptional clarity, warmth and depth and zero interference. A handful of mega quiet statics but so so quiet they really do not warrant a mention. The very quiet section during 'Blane' plays beautifully, you would not believe the clarity here! Either side of it the playback cannot be faulted either.
The concluding section 'Movement 4' is of the same high end standard i.e. there is no background. If you are after the definitive version of this instrumental then this is the one to own. From start to finish it plays with breathtaking quality and Mint- is very much deserved. In essence it could not play any better and I am only including the minus just to be on the safe side!
The Cover & Inner Sleeve
The cover is in excellent condition with only minimal shelf wear. Only the bottom edge has a small amount of rubbing and the thin pinched spine is in superb shape with barely any wear on the corners. The right hand corners are very clean also as is the opening edge. The laminated front cover is in lovely condition with just some laminate lift next to the spine and one small white 'line' near the top edge. The back cover is not laminated and is very clean apart from one thumbnail type line in the centre and some minor 'scratching' near the bottom edge. The mono / stereo indicator hole is in the top right corner. A very strong example overall.
The original poly-lined blue stereo inner is in excellent shape with only some creasing here and there, mainly in one corner. As stated it is dated 7-71.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask. Many thanks.
All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
