Description
Released in 1975 this superlative compilation of Island and Transatlantic artists charts the transition of folk from acoustic into electric folk rock over the four vinyl albums in the box set.
Artists in the set include Fairport Convention, Pentangle, Steeleye Span, John Martyn, Davey Graham, Mr Fox, Shirley Collins, Traffic, Richard Thompson and The Albion Country Band. Amongst the less obvious artists is the astonishing original version of The Gallows Pole by Leadbelly which Led Zeppelin were to popularise and also a track by the vastly underrated Marc Brierley. There are just too many superb artists over the 4 records to list.
Each vinyl record comes in a separate sleeve - see photo 3 - and each record remains in near mint condition as does each sleeve.
There is a 16 page 12" booklet which is in very good plus condition with no damage but I have read it frequently for reference purposes.
The outer box which contains the records and booklet - see photos 1 & 2 - is in very good plus condition.
This is a real gem of a box set and includes many of the classic English folk rock artists and tunes from the mid 60's through until the mid 70's.
The record will be sent in a new record mailer with cardboard stiffener and posted by Royal Mail Second Class Signed For.
