ELIZABETH Self-Titled Elizabeth Vinyl LP Record 1968 1st Press! SERIOUSLY RARE!!  STEREO [ Vanguard Black label - SVRL 19010 - 1968 UK LP ]

Elizabeth was made up of Steve Weingart (lead guitar, harp, organ, vocals), Bob Patterson (guitar, vocals), Jim Dahme (guitar, flute, vocals), Steve Bruno (organ, bass), and Hank Ransome (drums). The band originally came from Philadelphia but moved to New York in 1968, where they recorded and released their self-titled album on Vanguard Records in 1968. The album was released with a wonderful psychedelic-styled collage sleeve that gave the record buyer an impression that the band was a baroque-styled act, yet in actuality it is fairly standard late-'60s rock. The highlights of the album are the fuzz guitar-laden track "You Should Be More Careful," the haunting soft psych of the song "Alarm Rings Five," and the final and best track on the album, "When All Else Fails." The album is rounded out by a few less than interesting good-time-styled rock tracks and has a slight jazz feel in places.

Very strong US psych rock with quite a diverse ornate sound ranging from almost folky psych to a much heavier sound with good guitar, a nice organ sound and double tracked vocals, all together a highly enjoyable album which could be filed nicely alongside your United States Of America or West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band albums, nice collage style sleeve too.

Elizabeth is a SERIOUSLY rare 1968 UK 1st pressing on the 1st Press Vanguard black label !!  IT IS ONE OF THE RAREST (IF NOT THE RAREST) LPS ON THE VANGUARD LABEL AND IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO LOCATE !!!! THIS LP SOLD VIRTUALLY ZERO COPIES ON RELEASE IN 1968 AND WAS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY DELETED.  AS A RESULT IT IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND AS A UK 1ST PRESSING!!!!  IT FEATURES SOME SUPERB PSYCHEDELIC MUSIC AND AN AWESOME 'PSYCH' COVER!!!!

 Condition:  The record is pressed on THICK quality vinyl is in EX+ [ light surface hairlines scuffs marks ].

       Laminated Cover jacket: is in EX [ clean nice glossy with some very light wear around corners-edges-very light starting ring wear ]

1968 release from this US band from Philadelphia. This is a highly competent album of rock music with some excellent fuzz guitar and psychedelic touches.

LP condition GRADING system:

M (MINT) : Sealed, never opened or played, new in original package.

NM (NEAR MINT) : Near perfect copy, played only a few times. At worst it may have one or two insignificant flaws. This is the highest grade I give for a non-sealed (used) record.

EX (EXCELLENT) : Clean copy, slight surface marks/hairlines, cover has minor defaults.

VG++ (VERY GOOD++) : More surface marks, minor flaws, or cover wear, minor edge wear (cover). Nothing serious but is not graded EX because of few minor defaults.

VG+ (VERY GOOD +) : Played a lot, will show signs of handling, has marks, possibly few light scratches but no jumps or sticks. Cover wear (light ring wear, heavier corner or edge wear on cover).

VG (VERY GOOD) : Used record, played a lot, has marks, few scratches, some crackling while playing and but no jumps or sticks. Still quite listenable. Cover may have heavy corner, edge wear or split seams.

G (GOOD) : Played a lot and more (but still playable), lot of scratches, crackles a lot while playing, may have jump or sticks and cover is damaged...so not so good ! This record must be very rare to be proposed in this state !!!
