Description
This is a very rare mono recording (no SXL stereo version exists) by the legendary violinist Mischa Elman, with piano accompaniment by Joseph Seiger.
The matrix numbers on the runouts are: ARL-3421-1A and ARL-3422-1A.
I have machine cleaned the disc: the surface sheen is glossy and there is minimal spindle wear. I have listened to both sides and it plays beautifully, with (to my ear) negligible loss of high-end frequencies and no background crackle. There are 3 or 4 faint ticks right at the start of Side 1 (the piano intro) and several single non-intrusive ticks elsewhere.
The original flimsy jacket has considerable shelf/handling/ring wear. The laminate is lifting and in places is missing. In the centre of the bottom edge (front) there is a 3cm tear and the bottom flip-back shows some damage (see photo).
