NINTH ALBUM from this, at the time, young prodigeous talent. The contents are brilliantly written and executed with Elton pushing the boundaries of contemporary singer-songwriter excellence. Backed bywhat was essentially teh remnants of progressive rock band Hookfoot, the content is deliciously expansive with tracks such as 'Someone Saved My Life Tonight' marking a high point in his career. In fact, this is the last album that would feature his backing band until many years later.
As you know, the first edition of this album was issued in a gatefold cover with a 16 page booklet and a giant fold out poster. Later copies were drastically changed when Elton's career began to take off commercially in an effort to save on manufacturing costs.
This auction is part of a fantastic collection of seventies rock which I was lucky enough to acquire. Most of these records were stored with the utmost care and sparsely played. Some were possibly never played or may have been for just a handful of times.
Pressing: DJM, UK, 1975
Vinyl: Nice clean and shiny condition. A couple of virtually invisible spindle marks on labels but no other signs of any use. Blood red vinyl when held up to strong light. Grades as shop fresh MINT-!
Cover: No visible signs of use. Issued in a beautifully designed gatefold cover. Sharp corners, no dings, no bends, no ring wear, no split seams and no creases. Spine is stiff and totally uncrushed. Impossible to find like this after 39 years. Grades as shop fresh MINT!
Inserts: Two 16 page booklets - Scraps and Lyrics - and giant fold out poster. All MINT!
