Description
This is a PROMO 45 of an ELTON JOHN single on CONGRESS,"Border Song" b/w "Bad Side of the Moon". In fact, this was the final single ever released on the label that gave us the likes of Shirley Ellis, Linda Scott and The Flying Machine.
In 1967, Dave Kapp sold his labels to MCA. Two years later in '69, lasting for about a year, MCA revitalized the label issuing 23 singles on CONGRESS. But in 1970 MCA decided to consolidate it with it's other labels discontinuing it, thus moving this ELTON JOHN single...to Uni 55246... which became Elton's first charting record in the U.S...peaking at #92 on the Hot 100. Both songs appeared on his 1970 debut self titled Uni lp and as they say...the rest is history.
I grade this conservatively Excellent. I've never played it, looking at the glossy vinyl, I doubt that many others have. Both labels are pristine. AND it comes with an original CONGRESS Sleeve in excellent shape!
Any questions feel free to contact me.
I have over 5,000 7 " items with half of them being: Picture Sleeves/Eps, Promo or Color Vinyl items that I will be liquidating, now that I'm retired.
If you're a fan of the classic rock years, the early 1960s through the mid 1980s check for my future listing.
