Description
In the Summer of 1974,at a record company gala evening held at the Mayfair Hotel in London,Elton John presented these watches to the sales team that had helped him in the success of his album sales to that time.This would have been not long after the phenomenal sales of the album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.
I was a member of that sales team as was the lady that was later to become my wife,therefore we each have one of these watches.We successfully auctioned one of these last week,this is the second one.
The watch itself is very typical of the style in the seventies.It is a straightforward Swiss made mechanical movement marked as shock and water protected and is fitted into a clear plastic surround with integral strap with velcro fastening.This plastic has gone slightly yellow with the passage of time.The face depicts a young Elton John,with hair,using his hands to show the time.
The overall diameter of the watch is 45mm.and it still keeps perfect time.
Still going,like the guy on the face!!!
