ELVIS PRESLEY ?ELVIS? GOLDEN RECORDS? ORIGINAL 1958 FIRST PRESSING SILVER SPOT RCA LP WITH 4 PAGE INTEGRAL STAPLED BOOKLET AND LAMINATED GATEFOLD SLEEVE
Sleeve Condition: Small patch of laminate lifting and missing from top of front and rear. Remainder firmly attached. Mild crease to bottom right of front cover. The interior is almost Near Mint, the booklet is firmly attached by both staples and is clean, sharp, uncreased and entirely free from marking of any kind. In addition, the corner opening flap to hold the record is in similar condition. This is the best I?ve seen; it?s nearly always the case that the interior is creased and always the case that the LP pocket is torn and dog-eared. This one looks as if it?s never housed the record. Overall, allowing for the small loss of laminate, a very sound Ex exterior and a Near Mint interior and booklet.
Record Condition: There is some obvious background ?ssh? and occasional crackle, particularly at the start of Side 2, which is vinyl noise only and does not affect the musical reproduction. The record is in fact still in remarkably well-preserved condition. It plays without aural interference or peak distortion, a remarkable thing for vinyl of this age so often played on vinyl-destroying, 1950?s Dansettes or similar. There are the lightest of handling marks, no scratches, scuffs or stylus damage evident and the record is visually Ex- and aurally Vg.
This is one of the hardest early, original Elvis LPs to turn up. There are of course, plenty of damaged and later issues around. The delicate nature of the gatefold sleeve lends itself to wear and damage and reissues with and without the booklet abound. This however, is at least a Very Good overall copy of both record and sleeve of the very first issue with Silver Spot vinyl and original issue, 4 page stapled booklet, gatefold sleeve.
