52 YEARS OLD, UNUSED AND NEAR MINT!
AMAZING
I don't think one of these has ever come up for sale in England!
Long regarded as the 'holy grail' of Elvis Memorabilia, this is as near to mint as you will ever see and a complete copy of the very first printing with the green writing as issued in November 1956.
It is amazing that it has survived with the cover still retaining the record intact.
The book has 36 pages and measures approximately 11" X 8". The front cover has a 'tear out' record in gold and blue print. There is no evidence at any attempt to remove this.
The actual contents of the record has often surfaced as "Elvis, the Truth About Me" still quite easily available in many formats (and was actually issued in 1959 in the UK as a 6" record through the Weekend Magazine), so, it's not the contents of the record that makes this so desirable, it is the fact that it is still attached to the cover of the magazine! How many of these still exist in the world? Not many I bet!
Inside I found a sheet of M.G.M pictures (photographed). I think these may have come with the magazine but this item is so rare I cannot find any Elvis Expert that can confirm or deny this: in fact, most have only seen pictures of "Elvis Answers Back" and never the real thing! It will be included in this sale.
The only things that makes this less than absolutely mint is the rubber stamp imprint on the top of the cover (barely visible, it is mostly on the black part) with the letters UK and the small price 2/6 hand written. This, to me, is all part of the authenticity, it obviously was destined to be sold in the UK at the price of 'two and sixpence'. There is, also, a crease across the top right front corner; that is all, otherwise, mint!
If you are a serious collector of Elvis Memorabilia please do have a good look at this and do you research, I know you will find how amazingly rare this is and, believe me, it is in the most beautiful condition after over 50 years.
