I'm listing this LP for an audiophile friend of mine.
Record is VG+ : some visual scuffs, plays very nice!
Jacket is also VG+ : the beginnings of a split is evident in upper right corner. Very minor.
His desscription:
This is a very clean copy of the famous debut LP by Elvis Presley. Condition wise, I'd rate the jacket an A-. There are no dents in the corners and the Pink on "Elvis" is not quite dark as as I've seen it. There is no record-ring, but it has yellowed a bit. There is an original price tag for $3.19. It's far too dangerous to remove tags this old. It gives the jacket a little character! The LP inside is quite nice. There is no rule as to what is a dust-scuff or a genuine "scratch". The only real visual scratch is on side 2/cut 4, but there isn't any more surface noise on this cut then any other cut. In other words, it does not tick! Silent vinyl is not going to happen on any copy of this LP, unless it's the digitally mastered issue from the early 80s, and who the heck wants that?! Keep in mind, RCA pressed this LP like crazy. I'm sure they wore the metal stampers into oblivion. They could care less about sound. The LP was meant for teenagers and hillbillies! BTW, there is some moderate shredding around the spindle hole a few spindle marks. We're you looking for perfection? Aren't we all!
As an audiophile myself, I much prefer a play grade to a visual grade. Records are to be played, right?
Using the same play-grade as I would use if I were selling a Blue Note jazz or an RCA Living Stereo classical record I would call it:

3 EX++
4, 5, 6 M-
Side 2 1, 2, 3 M-
4, 5, 6 M--
This play grade was made w/a Denon 103 SD moving coil cartridge. The Denon has a conical tip, which seems to be particularly nice sounding on mono LPs from the 50s. My elliptic tipped Grado gives me a completely different set of grades. Needless to say, if you've swapped LPs w/friends you know all about how difficult it is to discuss the condition of used LPs.
BTW, the matrix numbers on this copy are 8S/2S. It is smoother sounding than 6S/5S. My reference cut is "Money Honey". IMH, it's the reason to own this LP. Scotty's power chords are among the best even recorded and certainly the best he ever recorded, and that's saying a lot!!!
