Here we have a rare early Elvis classic,the 7'' single 'Don't Be Cruel'.It was released in 1956 on the highly collectable HMV record label and the catalogue no.is POP 249.The B side is another Elvis classic,'Hound Dog'.This record is from the initial pressing with the gold print on a purple label.
The record is in VG+ condition and both sides play well with no jumps or skips.There are some visible surface marks but these have very little effect on the overall sound which is loud and clear.
The record is without its original centre and there is a small (1.5 cm) label tear on the B side.In view of this the overall condition of the record has been downgraded to a VG grading overall..
IN MINT CONDITION THIS ITEM IS VALUED BY RECORD COLLECTOR AT £150 - IN VIEW OF ITS VG CONDITION WE HAVE A MUCH LOWER STARTING POINT AND NO RESERVE - THIS IS PERHAPS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR ELVIS FANS OR HMV LABEL COLLECTORS TO FILL AN IMPORTANT HOLE IN THEIR COLLECTION !
