🎬 Album History & Popular Tracks
Released originally in June 1966, "Paradise, Hawaiian Style" served as the official soundtrack to Elvis's 21st Hollywood motion picture and his third cinematic musical venture set in the Hawaiian islands. Recorded at the legendary Radio Recorders studio in Hollywood, California, the album represents the height of Elvis's highly successful 1960s "island pop" era.
The album peaked at Number 15 on the Billboard 200 chart and features a charming mix of upbeat Polynesian-inspired rock, traditional melodies, and lush mid-century ballads.
Most Popular Tracks Featured:
• "Drums of the Islands" – A powerful, rhythmically driven Polynesian anthem that stands out as one of the movie's primary musical setpieces.
"Scratch My Back (Then I'll Scratch Yours)" – A playful, catchy mid-60s duet showcasing Elvis's signature charismatic vocal timing.
"Sand Castles" – A beautiful, soft ballad that holds unique historical importance; it was initially cut from the final film screening but preserved forever as a "Special Bonus Song" on this LP release to complete the soundtrack tracklist!
