ELVIS PRESLEY RCA (Sun)78 Milkcow Blues Boogie (E-)
ELVIS PRESLEY. RCA Victor 20-6382 (Cdn) Milkcow Blues Boogie/You’re A Heartbreaker.This RCA 78 contains two essential sides that Elvis cut for Sun Records in Memphis sometime in 1955, reissued on RCA after Elvis signed with the label. The ‘A’ side is Elvis’ take on the 30s Kokomo Arnold blues tune. He plays the opening verse kind of slow, then stops the band and says ‘Hold it fellas. That don’t move me. Let’s get real, real gone for a change’. And they do get gone. The ‘B’ side is a nice Sun-style country bopper.
This 78 visually grades a decent E- with a few light rubs, minor hairline surface scratches and a touch of wear. Although you’ll hear a touch of very mild surface noise from the in and out grooves, the pressing is LOUD and once the band kicks in, that legendary Sun Records sound leaps from the speakers. Labels are fine with very light wear. You even get a vivid RCA ‘V’ sleeve.
Although not as rare as his Sun 78s, this RCA pressing of ‘Milkcow…’ doesn’t show up nearly as often as, say, ‘Hound Dog’. This is only the second copy I’ve found in over thirty-five years on the 78 hunt. Good luck adding this one to your collection.

Unless otherwise stated, 78s are carefully cleaned by hand before listing. Upon receiving, your only job will be to enjoy the music.78s come in used but nice vintage green sleeves or, when possible, original paper sleeves.
I do my spot-checking and play testing on a Technics 1200 turntable with a Stanton 500 cartridge using a standard Stanton 2.7 stylus. The amp is a mid-70s Pro-Linear with the mono switch activated. The speakers are small professional recording studio monitors (Yamaha NS 10) that are known for being overly bright – great for spotting that mild surface noise!
I ship 78s as I like to receive them - using the four-sheet 10” cardboard sandwich, foam chips, 12" x 12" x 4 "(or 6") box method.
I use standard 78 grading (E+, E, E-, V+, V, V- etc). I’ll sometimes use double plus or minus signs to really hone in on the shape.

I charge actual postage plus an extra dollar (give or take a few cents, depending on the state of the constantly fluctuating US and Canadian dollars) to help pay for packing materials.
There is no ‘handling charge’ for the time I take to properly pack your precious slab of shellac for safe travel.
