ELVIS PRESLEY'S  SPD 7" EP SETS were PROMOTIONAL GIFT SETS included as a BONUS with the purchase of one of 3 ELVIS PRESLEY  "AUTOGRAPHED" RECORD PLAYER.              (The SPD- series was used by RCA for EP sets that were meant for special purposes.... mainly issued between 1954 - 1957).

The rare 3-disc EP was a promotional item that was originally available only with the purchase of a special Elvis Presley "autographed" record player. 

1956 was Elvis' coming out year, and RCA seized the opportunity to market numerous products in the King's names. To help promote RCA's new portable record player division, they made two   (or three... depending upon which Elvis/Elvis  music  Memorabilia Collectors reference book or website you read.)  special "Elvis Presley/Autographed by Elvis" portable record players. 

The first was the portable 4-speed model with Presley's "personal autograph" stamped in gold on the lid of the player. The SPD-22 2-disc set was the bonus gift with this player.

 The second was something very new -- a "personally autographed" automatic 45 portable, capable of only playing 45's, but holding up to 14 records which were stacked above the turntable.    The SPD-23 3-disc set was the "bonus gift" with this more expensive player and is quite rare - much more so than the SPD-22 set.

Each of the 6 sides plays very well with varying degrees of surface noise but DOES NOT overpower enjoyment of the music.   I DID NOT experience any skips in any of the 12 songs when I played them on two of my turntables.
