ELVIS PRESLEY Speedway 1968 USA STEREO PHOTO STICKERED SHRINK and INNER SLEEVE
Elvis Presley, Speedway.
Original 1968 USA pressed RCA Victor stereo LP, LSP 3989.
Earliest deep grooved black label with white RCA Victor logo at 12 o'clock, and silver title print with silver "stereo" to 3 o'clock.
A very well preserved issue which includes original "Elvis" inner sleeve and poster insert, and which is housed in original stickered shrinkwrap, neatly opened at entry side.
Vinyl is in overall very acceptably clean condition. The labels have a high undulled gloss still and there are just marginal traces of spider trail marks around the spindle areas. The playing surfaces are still glossy and not greyed or dulled from over-use. At certain angles a number of whitish patination marks can be seen. These are quite common in some RCA presses and although they are notably visible they do not affect playback. Aside from this, close inspection reveals a few hairline scuffs and small and very gentle scratches. None of these are severe in nature, and these are isolated marks on otherwise clean surfaces.
Playback is actually very clean and grades at least top end VG. The recorded sound is typical of the best of these early RCAs and rich and full-blooded. There is no distortion or groove wear. There is just some marginal and short-lived low level crackle occasionally noticeable, but this only during a couple of the quiter songs and band separators. On the whole a clean playing LP with no clicks or ticks which still provides a very comfortable and enjoyable listening experience.
Inner sleeve is in superb shape and grades near mint. The LP has been stored in a separate sleeve, and so the inner has not suffered any creasing or seam splits and has crisp unworn extremities. Inner will be tough to upgrade.
Photo has a small diagonal crease (measures around an inch from end to end) to top right corner, else is near mint.
External sleeve still has shrink in place, neatly opened at entry side. This has kept the sleeve in near mint condition. The edges and corners have not worn through and the sleeve has not only no seam splits, but not even any separation of the surface layers. There is just a small one inch closed tear to the outer shrink at the bottom right corner.
Three visible stickers, including the red "Bonus Photo" are all affixed to the outer shrink.
In summary a very well preserved example, rarely seen as clean and complete as this.
